Guitar Basic Chord E7

The top line is the sheet music representation, and it shows 4 bars each of 4 beats.

The first bar is what you came to this page for - the chord of E7, or, the E7 major triad (because we are only using the notes E G# and B).

If you wish you can go on and examine the rest of the music.

The next bar shows the same chord four times to indicate that you strum it four times - one chord for each beat in the bar.

The next two bars is another kind of accompaniment, where a single bass note alternates with a chord of E7.

The next line ( E7's and slashes ) is how you often see a guitar part written.

The next lines obviously are fret diagrams. Every string is to be played except when marked with an 'x'.

The last two bars of accompaniment can be played with your pick, or you can use your fingers only, in which case use your thumb (right hand) for the single bass notes, and your four fingers (right hand) for the four-note chord. Try playing this variation with the similar one for the chord A and you will see how they fit together.
