Glossary Guitar Terms
Ad lib see Improvisation
Barre Sometimes pronounced "bah" or "barrie". I have always said "barray" being under the impression that it was a French word with an accent on the last letter, and also being under the impression till now that that was how everyone said it.
The term refers to using one finger to press more than one (very often 6) guitar string(s).
Dots Usage - "playing from the dots". Playing from written sheet music.
Improvisation Sometimes called "ad lib". The playing of phrases or melodic lines which are not written in the sheet music, or in the recognised or practised rendition of the piece.
